## 📅 BUFFER - SOCIAL MEDIA SCHEDULING
### What is Buffer?
Buffer lets you schedule posts to multiple social media platforms at once. Instead of posting to Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook separately, you write once and schedule to all three.
**Your Buffer Setup:**
- **URL:** https://buffer.com/
- **Email:** socials@firefrostgaming.com
- **Password:** Firefrost1234!
- **Connected Platforms:** Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook (Free plan = 3 max)
---
### How to Use Buffer
#### **1. Creating a New Post**
**Step 1: Click "New Post" (top right)**
**Step 2: Write your content**
- Keep it concise (Twitter has 280 char limit)
- Use emojis strategically 🔥❄️
- Add hashtags at the end
**Example Post:**
```
🔥❄️ New modpack update dropping this weekend!
We've added 15 new mods to the Fire Path server, including:
- Create: Steam & Rails
- Farmer's Delight expansions
- New building blocks
Check it out at firefrostgaming.com
#ModdedMinecraft #FirefrostGaming
```
**Step 3: Select which platforms to post to**
- Check: Twitter ✓ Instagram ✓ Facebook ✓
- Or pick individual platforms for platform-specific content
**Step 4: Add media (optional)**
- Click "Add Image" or "Add Video"
- Upload from your computer
- Best: Create graphics in Canva first (see Canva section below)
**Step 5: Schedule or Post Now**
- **Post Now** - Publishes immediately to all selected platforms
- **Add to Queue** - Schedules based on your optimal posting times
- **Schedule Post** - Pick specific date and time
---
#### **2. Understanding the Queue**
Buffer's "Queue" is your scheduled post lineup. The free plan has preset "optimal posting times" based on when your audience is most active.
**Your Default Queue Times (can customize):**
- **Weekday mornings** - 8-10 AM (when gamers wake up)
- **Weekday evenings** - 6-8 PM (after work/school)
- **Weekends** - 12-2 PM (midday gaming time)
**How the Queue Works:**
1. You add posts to the queue
2. Buffer automatically schedules them at the next available optimal time
3. Posts go out without you having to think about timing
**To view your queue:**
- Click "Queue" tab
- See upcoming scheduled posts
- Drag and drop to reorder
- Click post to edit or reschedule
---
#### **3. Drafts**
Save posts you're working on but not ready to publish:
1. Write your post
2. Click "Save Draft" instead of scheduling
3. Find drafts in the "Drafts" tab
4. Come back later to finish and schedule
**Great for:**
- Ideas you want to refine
- Posts waiting on images
- Content that needs approval from Michael/Meg
---
#### **4. Analytics (Free Plan - Limited)**
**What you can see:**
- Post performance (likes, comments, shares)
- Best performing posts
- Engagement trends
**How to use it:**
1. Click "Analytics" tab
2. See which posts got the most engagement
3. Make more content like your top performers
**Example:** If posts with server screenshots get 3x more engagement than text-only posts, make more screenshot posts!
---
### Buffer Best Practices for Firefrost Gaming
#### **Posting Frequency**
**Recommended Schedule:**
- **Twitter:** 1-2 times per day
- **Instagram:** 3-5 times per week
- **Facebook:** 3-5 times per week
**Don't overpost!** Quality > Quantity. 1 great post is better than 5 mediocre ones.
---
#### **Content Mix (The 60-30-10 Rule)**
**60% Community & Fun**
- Server highlights
- Player spotlights
- Behind-the-scenes
- Memes and fun content
- Community events
**30% Educational**
- Mod tutorials
- Server guides
- Tips and tricks
- FAQ answers
**10% Promotional**
- Subscribe calls-to-action
- New server announcements
- Special offers/events
**Why?** People follow for entertainment and value, not ads. Save the hard sells for special occasions.
---
#### **Platform-Specific Tips**
**Twitter/X:**
- Short and punchy
- Use 1-3 hashtags max
- Engage with replies quickly
- Share news and updates
**Instagram:**
- Visual-first (always include image/video)
- Longer captions okay (tell stories)
- Use 5-10 hashtags
- Stories for behind-the-scenes
**Facebook:**
- Longer posts work well
- Community engagement focus
- Share articles and links
- Great for events and announcements
---
### Buffer Workflow Examples
#### **Example 1: Weekly Server Update**
**Monday morning:**
1. Log into Buffer
2. Click "New Post"
3. Write update about weekend events
4. Add screenshot from Sunday's boss fight
5. Select all 3 platforms
6. Click "Add to Queue"
7. Done! Posts at optimal time automatically
**Time saved:** Instead of logging into 3 platforms separately (15 min), you do it once (3 min)
---
#### **Example 2: Week of Content Planning**
**Sunday evening - Plan the week ahead:**
1. Open Buffer
2. Create 7-10 posts as drafts
3. Mix of content types (updates, tips, fun posts)
4. Tuesday: Review drafts with Meg
5. Wednesday: Add images from Canva
6. Thursday: Schedule all posts to queue
7. Week runs on autopilot!
