Server Deletion & World Backup Policy

Applies To: All game servers on Firefrost Gaming network

Policy Overview

When a game server is scheduled for deletion or sunset, Firefrost Gaming will provide subscribers with access to their world data for a limited time period.

Procedure

1. Pre-Deletion Backup (48-72 hours before deletion)

Complete world backup created
Backup compressed (.zip or .tar.gz)
Upload to temporary storage (S3, Backblaze B2, or similar)
Generate public download link (time-limited)

2. Subscriber Notification

Discord announcement in #announcements and relevant server channel
Email notification to active subscribers (if applicable)
Minimum 48 hours notice before server deletion
Include download link and expiration date

3. Download Availability

Duration: 30 days from deletion date
Access: Public link (no authentication required)
Format: Standard world folder structure (can import to local server)

4. Post-Expiration

After 30 days, backup is permanently deleted
Storage space reclaimed
No exceptions or extensions (30 days is final)

Storage Requirements

Estimated backup sizes:

Vanilla/light modpack: 100-500 MB
Medium modpack: 500 MB - 2 GB
Heavy modpack (ATM10, etc.): 2-10 GB

Storage solution: Backblaze B2 or similar (pay per GB)
Estimated cost: $0.005/GB/month (~$0.05-0.50 per backup for 30 days)

Exceptions

This policy does NOT apply to:

Test servers (never public)
Staff-only servers
Servers in maintenance/temporary offline
Servers with data corruption (backup not possible)

Emergency deletions: If server must be deleted immediately (security issue, etc.), best-effort backup will be attempted but not guaranteed.
